  6. At least 10 pipistrelle bats were hunting low over Skelton lake’s Southern bank at 9pm last night. Rather surprising as the temperature was quite low. 2 Brown hare on plateau.

  7. Strange behaviour from a Brown Hare, on the ridge & furrow at 1745, near S.rock. It was chasing the quartering Marsh Harrier and jumping up towards it, as if to ‘see it off’. At one stage the harrier came very close to the ground, when I saw a quick flash of white fur. I assume this was probably a startled leveret, but the adult hare was close by to repel the invader.
