  2. metal footbridge ;lots of tadpoles and clouds of copepods @2mm with occasional 5mm ones a second species? Great Diving Beetle and several Water Boatman types.

    Hare above Wheatear and antlered Roe Dear other side of fence. Caroline seating a large Weasel carrying a kit about half its size.

  10. A limping fox crossed Old Astley lane into Fleakingkey beck area this morning, it was also seen on the hillside on Wednesday 2nd April.

    Stoat down Coach Rd and another seen by JE on Old Astley lane today.

  12. A dead Rabbit looked like it had been hunted, by the side of the Astley Lane kissing gate this morning. For collection later? Tied in with two youths seen with a shot Pheasant early afternoon. Headed off towards Swillington.

  14. Recent butterfly records: Brimstone and Comma near Rabbit Warren on 19th March. Small Tortoiseshell 2 probably 3 Beck Cottage Little Preston 30th March.

  15. Another late post, a small bat sp over garden Beck Cottage, Little Preston 23rd March.

    A Dark-edged Bee-fly was on the 30wts actinic moth trap on the morning of 28th March.

  17. Hedgehog, unfortunately two road casualties on Bullerthorpe Lane, one near Bridge Farm Hotel, one by the turn to Newsam Green Road.

  20. Joe had Toads come to the surface for air, I regularly had Newts, the Frogs never did! Apparently they can absorb oxygen through their skin better!

  22. A Noctule bat flew onto a branch at the Warren for about 20 mins before flying off the way it came.

    1 Small tortoiseshell, 2 Peacock, 1 Comma, 4 smooth newts at the VC ponds (Julian had more earlier on), a large amount of frog spawn by the metal footbridge with up to 17 frogs and a couple toads in the channel.

    Also 1 Roe deer and bank vole seen too.
